What is the Refresh:
The 3- Day Refresh consists of 3 daily shakes, a fiber drink, plenty of filtered water, plus a wide variety of fresh fruits, veggies, and healthy fats though out the day to keep fueling your body and increasing your metabolism.
What you will eat and drink during the 3- Day Refresh:
1. Wake up- Drink 8-12 oz filtered water
2. Breakfast (within an hour of waking up)- Shakeology + fruit (from the list provided)

When should you start the 3-Day Refresh?
Many people start the Refresh on Friday morning so they can stay focused and disciplined through the weekend- while others may prefer to follow this during the week to avoid temptation of weekend activities. 
This is totally YOUR CALL of how and when you want to start this.  Bottom line- you want results and to make this a healthy lifestyle, it should be a good time when you decide they day YOU WANT TO COMMIT!
What to expect while on the Refresh:
This is NOT a starvation diet or an all-liquid diet, although it is low in calories (approx. 900 a day). You should not feel starved since it is packed with fiber and protein and you are nourishing your body properly. 
About the FIBER:
If you are not use to having lots of fiber in your regimen, I recommend you eat a large salad daily and a few servings of fresh veggies for the week up until your Refresh.  If you are not use to all the fiber and overload your body with fiber, you may feel uncomfortable gassy and bloating.  This is also a sign of your body cleaning itself up, which is what it is meant to do.  After you do this Refresh, you will want to increase your fiber levels in general (which is part of a healthy nutrition regimen).  
Fiber promotes satiety, helps balance blood sugar, and thus energy levels, promotes cardiovascular health, and keeps your digestive tract more regular.  It of course also helps you stay healthy and helps you lose weight! 
Water:
It is recommended that you drink tons of water, especially if you want the fiber to do its job right! How you know you get the right amount of water is by taking your weight / 2 and that number is how many ounces of water you should intake every day.
Example: My weight is 130…. 130/2= 65…. 65 ounces is what I need every day (not including your water for your shakes).
*Some people will drink 1 gallon to help maximize their result, which is an approach I personally used and love! It also helps you feel fuller and know the difference between hunger vs. boredom. 
Exercise:
During the 3-Day Refresh, it is recommended that you incorporate MILD to MODERATE exercise. This is because the 3 -Day Refresh will use your energy more effectively to help cleanse your system if you are not, at the same time, taxing it with the effort of repairing muscle after an intense workout.

Who ever thought a training for work could be so much fun?! This tells you right here, us Beachbody coaches have so much to be thankful for!  We are seriously treated like gold!! I cannot remember the last time my nursing job was so appreciative of their workers, so this was taken to a new level!!

Summit was at Vegas this year and was from Thursday to Sunday.  I went Tuesday to have a little relaxing and shopping before all the good stuff started!!

Wednesday was our first big day! We had an Elite celebration and I was in awe when I got to the reception/cocktail party! We had first chance to purchase from the CORE which is the store with all the Beachbody swag!! I was able to bring a guest with me, so I chose my cousin Michael, who was my very first diamond! This was seriously the most memorable night for me… I remember walking in and seeing that star with my name on it, and then Tony Horton was standing right there!! I was handed a gift and asked to sign my star! Nothing like feeling like a celebrity for a day right?!?  It was so nice to get pictures with everyone and just meet people you see all the time on Facebook, but never have the opportunity to talk face to face!

Thursday, I took a leap of faith and put myself in a Beachbody Classic Bikini Competition!! As scary as it was, I know I need the experience since I am prepping for a FIGURE NPC show in Oct and I need to learn some posing!

It didn’t matter how busy we were, this girl was with me to work out and run around Vegas like crazy people!!  We ran for 45 min up and down steps, in and out of crowds, and this was the best workout I had outside!!!! So much fun!!

 One of my favorite sessions at summit was Daren Hardy, writer of Compound Effect which was my first Personal Development book I ever read! How awesome it was to actually see him in person!!
He actually was even more impressive than in his book and his book is amazing!!
He talks about failure and how you cannot let failure be a characteristic of who you are… Failure happens to everyone, even the most successful people! His childhood was full of failures, but that was only a perfect way to create who he is today- a successful person!  Turning failure into fun is how you over come your obstacles and weaknesses and turn them into strengths that one day you can look back and say “I DID IT” and “IM STRONGER BECAUSE OF THAT!”

Friday evening was our Star Diamond reception.  I actually had a contest for my coaches for whoever earned the most success club points in a two week period would earn a date with me to the party! My coach Michael won! It was so awesome walking into Chalene calling us over for a pic!

 Saturday was another general session for all the coaches! We had lots of recognition and people on stage talking about their success as a coach and their stories behind their journey! It was so inspiring and really makes you think that anything is possible if you want something bad enough!
 Saturday morning, I was on stage for the first time in front of over 9,000 people to be recognized as an Elite coach! This is seriously an amazing feeling!! Hard work truly pays off!!

This Summit experience was something that will stick with me forever!! Not only having my own team there was so special to me, but just seeing all the success and knowledge that was provided to me to help my business was so fulfilling! I am so thrilled to now utilize what was given to me into our coach basics trainings, and challenge groups to help my customers get the most of their journey so everyone can be successful at their goals!!
Its time to bring it up a notch and really expand our success to everyone, everywhere!!

Week 2 Figure Competition Prep!

~NPC FIGURE WEEK 2 PREP~

So this was the first FULL week of me back at the gym lifting weights in 4 yrs!! I cannot believe it has been that long since I actually was active in a gym, but I am so proud to say I got my body using home fitness programs through TEAM BEACHBODY and keeping up with my nutrition using SHAKEOLOGY!

I was able to find my abs and lots of toning and strength in my upper body! 
If you want to learn to do push ups and tricep push ups in your sleep, PiYo is going to get you there for sure! Oh and the flexibility you get from the program is UNREAL!!!
If you are wanting to get involved with the new PiYo workout, I will say it is great for ANYONE!! Whether you have back or knee injuries, this program is low impact and no jumping!!
Not only does the program have great exercises for your body, but the nutrition guide is EASY and will show you RESULTS!!

Back to my 2nd week of training! You now know what my morning workouts consist of, and I am separating my lifting days by Leg day, back, shoulders, arms (bis and triceps).

I am only doing my arms once every 3 weeks or so because I have too much going on there.. I need to bring out my shoulders to have more of a V shape! My legs are what I really need to work on.. so that is twice a week.. I already did hamstrings and glutes as a separate day and tomorrow I will be focusing on quads!  
My post workouts are fast paced paced on very very high incline on the treadmill.  I am not use to all this low impact exercise, but its definitely working!! Its crazy to know all these years, I thought the only way to get results is by killing my body, sprinting, and jumping up and down! Totally not the case!!

Let me just tell you how important it is to be on a strict regimen.. I have found myself on top of my nutrition now that I am holding myself accountable and made this goal of doing my figure show in October!  I am doing weekly meal plans, prepping all my food, and really focusing on eating every 2 and 3 hours.  It is definitely very hard to do, especially when you have to force food in your mouth when your not even hungry, but I know its for the best and will pay off!! I know its so early in the game, and will get much harder, but I can definitely handle this! I am doing All chicken (6 oz each meal), egg whites (6-10), and my Shakeology shakes with 1/2 scoop whey protein for my protein intake.  For my heavy carbs, I am doing sweet potatoes and oatmeal. I also am doing 2 apples a day.  For my veggies, I have green beans, peppers, and salads this week.  It is so easy to prep when you eat the same thing every day!!
One of my favorite days was LEG DAY! Its totally a love/hate relationship… Hate- because I can barely walk after my workout and days after… Love- because I get to eat WHATEVER I WANT within an hour of my workout LOL!

I even ordered an appetizer which I NEVER DO!! I took my kids with me and had a date!! I ate those nachos with chili and guacamole so fast people probably thought I never ate before lol!!

Then of course my main entree came and I devoured that too like it was nobodies business!! It was a bonus that I was able to have my spicy ranch with my seasoned fries!!

I felt terrible for the first hour after, but surprisingly, I was fine after and the next day, did not feel bad at all!! I guess this is what happens when you are that strict every other day!! You can afford that cheat meal and you wont have to feel guilty!!

I can definitely tell my metabolism is increasing since doing PiYo and now incorporating weights into my routine! I am so darn excited about really being serious about this competition!! My body does not feel deprived of nutrients, energy, or sleep! I am feeling amazing and like a million bucks!! Lets see in a couple months if this changes lol!!

Well I think I am done for now, today was my off day for weights, but I did do cardio, so Saturday is a weight day, and Sunday is another off day for weights, but will continue cardio 7 days a week for now!

Next week I am in Vegas for Beachbody and I am sooooooo excited to come back and share all my exciting news with everyone!! I have lots going on, so you definitely want to stay tuned!!!

CrockPot Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal

CrockPot Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal

Ingredients:

  • 2 cup of steel cut oats (right now I have old fashion so that works too)
  • 4 cups of milk (I used 1%)
  • 2 tablespoon of vanilla extract
  • 2 small apples chopped 

Directions:

1. Place oats, milk, and apples into the crock-pot.  Add vanilla and stir.
2. Cook on high for 1-2 hours, or low for 2-3 hours.  Check consistency and cook to your liking 
3. Serve and top with cinnamons, raisins, or whatever you would like!
4. ENJOY!

My weight problems began several years ago when I quit smoking and gained a little weight.  I became depressed, went on antidepressants, and gained a little more weight.  Then menopause hit, and I gained even more weight!  I tried every weight loss method I could.  I thought I was eating well and exercising enough at the gym, but the weight wouldn’t come off!  Then I talked to Deidra Penrose one night at work.  She told me first about Shakeology, but I just wasn’t ready to commit.  Then we talked about the exercise programs, and still I wasn’t quite ready to invest in it all.  It took me a year to realize that I needed her help.  In January, I started drinking Shakeology every day.  Then at the end of March, I started the T25 exercise program with the 21 Day Fix meal plan.  The weight started dropping off immediately;  I felt more energy than I have in years; my migraine headaches dropped from 2-3 per week to once a month; and all those aches and pains from working 12-hour shifts just seemed to disappear!  Today I hit my first big goal of 25 pounds!  I still have 10-15 pounds to go, and a lot more toning to do, but I feel amazing!  I couldn’t have done it without the Beachbody products and the incredible support of my coach, Deidra, and the Team Beachbody community!  I recently became a Beachbody coach so I could show women over the age of 40 that it IS possible to lose that weight and feel good about yourself again!  I want to help others fall in love with their bodies again!!

Week 1 Prep NPC Figure Competition

So last week, I made my announcement that I am going to start training for my very first Figure NPC show!  I am someone who goes all in when I commit to something, so I am thrilled to see what is to come!! When I was 18, I did a fitness show, but now looking back, was totally unprepared!! So lesson learned, I am starting just a little early and slowly get into the routine so I am not stressing so much towards show time!
I am learning so much even in my second day in with training!! I was a personal trainer years back, but this is a different world over here! I am already cutting back my favorites—- PEANUT BUTTER AND FETA CHEESE!! Oh you have no clue how lost I feel without these foods haha!! I think its all mental, but I know I want this bad enough, so I will be just fine!!
After seeing my trainer, and he took a look at my body and what I need to work on, I was surprised to hear his answer! I definitely need to bulk and tone my legs like crazy, and my back and shoulders need work, but my arms were too big? HAHA I knew they were huge, but I didn’t know they needed to be smaller for the show! I am happy to hear this though, because I have some issues about how big they are, so hopefully with this training, it will help my own insecurities about them!
Yesterday was day 1 and leg day!! OHHHH leg day how I love you and hate you at the same time!!! HAHA! I love my squats and lunges, but after doing my workout, I thought my legs were going to give out on me! But who care, I MADE IT!!! This calls for tons of stretching!!!
This morning I did my light cardio (30 minutes) of power walking with a little hill, and then afternoon was my back day! So Im a fan of pull ups, but only when I whip them out and don’t focus on holding at the top and contracting my muscles lol! This was different than what Im use to, so of course, I was tired after the first set! I know with time, I will get better so I will focus on progress, not perfection!!
Now, is the exciting part!! Im not sure if many people have done this, but many of you know I am a Beachbody coach… We have home fitness programs, and SHAKEOLOGY, our health shake meal replacement!  Well, I will be incorporating all of this into my regimen to prep for my show! I have gotten this far with ONLY using my home fitness programs and Shakeology and was able to get pretty lean, so I am going to continue getting my dense nutrition through my shakes!

Being that it is all natural, Im definitely going to continue this as long as possible!

For the workouts, since I am already pretty lean, I am going to stick with PiYo by celebrity trainer Chalene Johnson, to help me with my strength and flexibility.  It is low impact, so this is perfect for my training!  Eventually, I will get into higher cardio workouts, but not until closer to show day.  For now, I need to work on building muscle!

For my meals, I am eating WAY more than I thought I would!! For this week, I am doing 3 heavy carbs a day, tons of protein (about 30 grams per meal) and veggies! I also am replacing 2 meals with Shakeology.  I have some healthy fats such as raw unsalted almonds and coconut oil.

So Im a huge believer in following through with your goals and dreams!  I know getting into the best shape of your life isn’t easy… But who says you have to do it alone?!?
As a health and fitness coach, Im all about giving you the support and accountability you need to get through it.. to reach your goals, to be happy, and comfortable in your own skin! I know its not something easy to do, BUT if you do not try and go for it, you will stay in the same unhappy spot your in now! So…. WHATS HOLDING YOU BACK?
Is it fear of failure, insecurities, or your just not unhappy enough?? I know time is also an issue… BUT we are all busy, we have kids, school, work, family, you name it… we all make time for the most important things though!
Let’s get real.. I’m not quite a drill sergeant, but I like to be honest, and forward… that’s me!
Ive been through the busiest time of my life… Fortunately, that was the time I decided to move forward with my passion for health and fitness and finally take control of my life and reach my goals! So I know whats possible!
So since summer is coming and no one wants to feel yucky in their own skin, its time to make the change! I know we have kids, work, and not much time to go to the gym… So here you go.. No more excuses, lets get out of bed an hour earlier, or skip our TV show and reach our goals!!

Let me just say after being on a Beachbody cruise, I completely fell off the healthy wagon and had no clue how to get back on track!! I felt terrible even showing pictures of myself because of how hard I fell apart with my nutrition and even lacking the exercise part- not a good way of being a role model as a fitness coach. But you know what? Were all human and we cannot be perfect every single day!  As I was thinking of getting into the right mindset of finding my way back into my healthy regimen and lifestyle, I received a phone call from Beachbody…..

That call from Beachbody was my game changer!  I was asked to be in the new upcoming test group PiYo! Of course the first thing I did was accept and then my game face was on!  
WHAT IS PiYO?
PiYo is a home workout Program without jumps, without weights, and without joint strain. Using body weight, PiYos uses low-impact, high-intensity movements inspired by Pilates and yoga. 

How long are the PiYo workouts?
20-60 min long

What type of results can you expect with PiYo? 
Long, lean, muscles, a high, firm booty, and tight, flat, sexy abs. PiYo will work every single muscle to stabilize, stretch, and strengthen every inch of a body. And since Chalene Johnson cranked up the speed and the fun, crazy calories will be burned too!

MY PiYo TRANSFORMATION:
So I have been waiting and waiting to talk about my PiYo journey with you all! I had 60 days of eating clean, drinking SHAKEOLOGY, and following the PiYo schedule!  I am going to be totally honest… being a girl who loves the high intense impact workouts and HITT workouts, I was very skeptical on even getting results with PiYo because I feel like I need to burn those calories in order to get my results… I also felt I was very flexible to begin with, so I would not have much improvement.  
I took my Day 1 pics and measurements and was disgusted of course, but knew what I was doing is better than what I was currently doing.  I worked hard every day, following the meal plans, having 1 off meal a week, and even at first, after doing the workouts, I was not sweating much, BUT I was surprised with how I was how much stretching, plank, and push ups I did!  As I continued this journey and went through the first 30 days, I was feeling stronger, and more flexible, which is what I wanted!

Feeling great and ready for 30 day pics and measurements to see my progress!!
Day 30 came and it was time to take my pics and measurements… I was very nervous because I did not feel my body changed a whole lot… and on the scale, it only moved 3 lbs. After looking at my day 1 and day 30 pictures, I was pleasantly surprised with how my body was changing and becoming more defined, even with a loss of just 3 lbs!! Woohoo I was getting my body back!! 
After day 30, I was so ready to kick it up a notch!! I really was happy about my results and wanted to show people what is possible, even if you have set backs such as back and knee problems!! I know having this lower impact program is going to help so many people such issues!! 
I really made my nutrition fun and tried a few different recipes, which I added all of them to my blog here!! So if one looks satisfying to you, its on here so don’t worry!! 🙂

I cannot be more thrilled that I am back to my low weight and have so much definition!!! I am beyond pleased with the results I got from Chalene Johnson’s PiYo workout!!!
